Experience:
In 2005, SCN was recognized through the "Agency of the Year"
award by area law enforcement and by the University of
Georgia for Outstanding Service to the UGA and Athens
communities for the more than 7,000 volunteer hours spent to
educate students on safety issues. SCN was also commended by
the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for hard work and
dedication to highway safety issues through their
publications and programs.
Kathryn
Keith Sims proudly serves as its executive director and
works with more than 300 college and high school students
each semester to spread SCN's mission and message. She has
spent more than 14 years working with nonprofits as a
volunteer, board member and staff person before joining SCN.
Favorite things to do:
Spending time with my children, working outdoors, and
working with all the unique individuals that volunteer to
make a difference in our community.
Why are you involved
with SCN?
I believe that everyone has a responsibility to do
something to make someone else's life a little better.
I know how many close calls I had when I was in college
because of unsafe decisions that my friends and I made, but
thankfully I was one of the lucky ones. My position at
Safe Campuses Now allows me the opportunity to help high
school and college students enjoy themselves while also be
safe.
